Today is National Cancer Survivor Day. 💗
Seven years ago this month, I heard the words no one expects to hear: “You have breast cancer.”
What followed was a year-long journey that changed me in ways I never could have imagined.
Here are three lessons that continue to stay with me:
💜 Life can change in an instant.
My diagnosis felt like a punch to the gut. Along the way, I met incredible people who became lifelong friends. Some are no longer with us, but their impact on my life remains immeasurable.
🙏🏽 Faith carried me.
The prayers, encouragement, and support I received reminded me that we are never meant to walk through difficult seasons alone. I am deeply grateful for God’s faithfulness and for every person who stood beside me.
🌱 Healing includes grieving.
Cancer brought physical changes, but it also brought losses I never expected—the loss of who I thought I was, the illusion of control, and the belief that I was invincible. I had to learn to let go of what was and embrace who I was becoming.
To anyone who has just been diagnosed: breathe. You are stronger than you know.
To those still in the middle of the fight: one step, one day at a time.
To those on the other side: keep going. Your story matters.
And to everyone who touched my life during that season—thank you. Your prayers, kindness, and support meant more than you’ll ever know.
Here’s to hope, resilience, and celebrating every survivor today. ❤️
